Right outside Hotel Acropole in Khartoum. Actually safe to go out at night here.
Had no issues with nighttime strolls here.

Pottery shards just everywhere in Old Dongola, some of the pieces even have little hints of painted motifs.

Karima, most of the pyramids are just foundations, pilfered by locals over the centuries. Some of the tombs have been excavated partially.
Jebel El Berkl, hiking to the top gives a view of Karima below and in the distance.
We picked up a group of local kids that followed us around on top and down the mountain.

Racing camels... they keep them underfed for this. Didn't seem like the happiest camels exactly.

Looks like they had a Cheesecake Factory location in ancient Sudan.
These drinking camels seemed like the happiest in all of Sudan.

Next morning at Meroe, locals encircled our camp with a makeshift market around our camp, certain we wanted trinkets and camel rides.
"Honeymoon room", hard to actually make out exactly what is being done to who, but you get the idea.

Sufi Dervish dancing... huge crowd at a mosque connected to a cemetery in Khartoum. This was really something to witness in person.
